0:00
my little my little
0:02
um introverted heart was exhausted and
0:06
so I listened to my body I listened to
0:08
myself and took the day off and decided
0:13
instead to do a quick little recording
0:16

1:10

1:13
Hello everybody welcome back to week six
1:18
of the relational parenting podcast
1:22
um as you might notice if you are
1:24
watching from YouTube I Am by myself and
1:29
this is only about a 10 or 15 minute
1:31
episode and that is because we are
1:35
taking this week off
1:37
uh was not something that I planned but
1:39
I actually got to go to doing a live
1:43
event I did um the family fest in Denver
1:46
at the Wings Over the rocky Rockies
1:49
museum
1:51
and I was there all day and I was with
1:54
my friend Noelle and we set up and um
1:57
you know I was just spent I just spent
1:59
Sunday reflecting and absorbing all of
2:04
the emotions and all the interactions
2:08
that I had with people and
2:12
it was just such a beautiful wonderful
2:14
day and it reminded me of how much I
2:17
enjoy being around people being in front
2:20
of people and teaching about what I do
2:23
and so yesterday was
2:25
just a day of reflection and the time
2:29
came to record and I reached out to my
2:32
dad and I was like I'm just not
2:34
I'm not
2:36
I don't have anything left
2:38
I knew that I could muscle through and
2:42
do our episode talking about boundaries
2:46
um but I just didn't feel that it would
2:49
be
2:50
my best work and that I was going to be
2:54
um
2:55
not all there my little my little
2:58
introverted heart was exhausted and so I
3:02
listened to my body I listened to myself
3:05
and took the day off and decided instead
3:10
to do a quick little recording to let
3:12
you guys know what is coming up because
3:15
we are
3:16
we have a lot in the works and I've
3:19
gotten a lot of people who are
3:20
interested in being on the show so I've
3:23
put together a ton of guests we actually
3:26
have a series that we're going to do in
3:28
March and so yeah so I'm gonna hop right
3:31
into that and tell you guys what's
3:33
coming up so
3:35
um on March 2nd our next episode will
3:37
release and that will be with my friend
3:40
and business woman
3:44
uh Marie Armitage she is a coach for
3:51
professional moms and women in general
3:54
and she has also had her own very
3:58
special journey through parenting she
4:00
currently has twin teenagers a boy and a
4:03
girl
4:05
and she had some health scares as well
4:08
as one of her children had some health
4:11
troubles along the way and so we're
4:14
bringing her on to talk about parenting
4:16
through Health struggles
4:19
um and also talk about how she helps
4:23
moms and women in business and the
4:26
professional world as well so that will
4:29
be March 2nd and then for the rest of
4:32
March and the first week of April we
4:36
will have an education Series this
4:40
series is going to include
4:44
um professional psychologists child
4:46
psychologists
4:48
um my mom my own mom is going to be here
4:51
um for the let's see she'll be here in
4:54
March and so we're going to actually do
4:55
an in-person podcast that week and she
4:59
has been a school psychologist
5:01
for about 30 years almost 30 years years
5:05
now and she is an integral part of the
5:10
shift some of the shifts that are
5:12
happening inside of the public education
5:14
system she is actively training
5:18
um teachers and principals and other
5:21
admin and schools how to be more
5:24
relational how to be more in tune with
5:27
children's emotional and mental Wellness
5:30
needs and so that's really exciting for
5:34
me she's going to come on here and let's
5:37
see I also have a friend who
5:41
actually started her own School in Egypt
5:44
that was based on child-centered
5:47
education so child LED some of the
5:52
philosophies are similar to Montessori
5:55
but she started her own school over
5:57
there she was a preschool director
6:00
before that and she has two degrees in
6:04
education and now she will be coming on
6:07
the podcast
6:08
and talking about the work that she's
6:12
doing now to she's writing a book that's
6:15
getting released in March and she's also
6:18
um
6:19
starting to consult with schools that
6:23
are already established in transitioning
6:26
their
6:28
um
6:29
framework
6:30
to a more child-centered approach
6:34
let's see and then I have at the end of
6:37
March we will have Lauren who works with
6:40
families of teenagers in college
6:44
applications and she naturally through
6:47
that process ends up helping them with
6:51
the transition process as well so
6:53
children leaving the home going out on
6:56
their own for the first time and all the
6:59
excitement and heartbreak that can come
7:01
with applying to different colleges
7:04
and then the last part of the series
7:06
will be my friend Samantha Who
7:10
is a strategic education planner for
7:14
families of many ages but she prefers to
7:19
get in with
7:20
um parents as young as possible because
7:22
if you've ever tried to get into a
7:24
preschool you know that it can be a
7:27
years-long waiting list as well as
7:30
private schools Charter Schools Etc
7:34
um and then also navigating options that
7:37
we may or may not be aware of in public
7:40
school settings
7:42
and otherwise so she's a strategic
7:44
planner for families
7:46
planning out their children's education
7:48
and she's got lots of insights things
7:52
that I never heard of when she and I
7:55
talked that I didn't know resources that
7:57
are available
7:58
Etc so
8:00
um a very well-rounded perspective of
8:05
the current state of the education
8:08
system the history of the education
8:11
system and how it was developed and
8:15
um the resources that are available now
8:18
the planning and strategy that is
8:20
available now as well as looking into
8:22
the future of where education is going
8:25
and how the school systems are changing
8:27
along with the times and the needs of
8:31
children today
8:32
so that's going to be a really exciting
8:34
one so make sure that you are all caught
8:37
up of over the last five episodes
8:40
um on the relational parenting topics
8:42
because those are going to be interwoven
8:45
into these episodes as well
8:48
and then the last thing that I want to
8:51
share with everybody is that we will be
8:55
resuming episodes
8:57
[Music]
8:58
let's see the second week of April
9:02
um so after the education series uh
9:04
we'll have back-to-back guests during
9:06
that and then we will resume a pattern
9:11
of an episode with me and my dad
9:13
discussing
9:16
um the relational parenting points and
9:18
framework and teaching continuing to
9:21
teach that and discuss common parenting
9:23
struggles and then every other episode I
9:27
have um other guests lined up with a
9:30
multitude of Topics in their child care
9:33
expertise or their parenting Journey so
9:37
I'm gonna start having parents on that
9:40
have been either working with
9:42
intentional parenting
9:44
um or have had a very significant growth
9:48
or
9:50
um journey through their parenting
9:52
experience
9:54
and so yeah I'm really excited about all
9:56
of that and I'm excited to start
9:57
bringing other people in for you guys to
10:00
listen to and we just have so many
10:03
topics ahead of us
10:05
so
10:07
make sure you're all caught up on the
10:08
first five episodes and episode six will
10:11
be with Marie Armitage next week
10:14
discussing let's see next week
10:17
Yeah March 2nd that one will air and
10:22
we'll be talking about mindful parenting
10:24
through chronic illness through Health
10:27
scares and how to stay connected through
10:31
that and how Marie coaches professional
10:35
moms or working moms or business moms
10:38
with mindset self-worth and other topics
10:44
all right so that is it for this week
10:47
you guys thank you for tuning in
10:50
um we're taking a mental health week
10:51
this week I appreciate your patience and
10:55
support so far
10:57

11:15

11:19
with I would be so honored if you shared
11:22
this link from this episode with them
11:25

11:27
community and sharing and I truly
11:30
believe that it takes a village to raise
11:34
a child
11:35
our society has become so independent
11:38
from one another and parenting these
11:40
days is often a lonely Journey
11:44
but it doesn't have to be that way
11:46
that's why I'm here if you have been
